Dang, Ghorahi-15: Atmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (Aatmanirbhar LBS) promoted by Gramin Mahila Utthan Kendra (Rural Women Development Center-RWDC) organized its “Half Yearly Review” at city plaza hotel conference hall in Dang Ghorahi for two consecutive days from February 5-6, 2021.

The half yearly review program was represented by over 90 participants from 17 branches of Dang, Salyan and Banke districts. The participants included all 17 branch managers, accountants, field staff, trainee field staff and financial literacy staff.

The review program was chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of Atmanirbhar LBS Shogat Bir Chaudhari. The founding chairperson of this financial institution as well as the current chairperson of RWDC Mrs. Aasmani Chaudhary graced the occasion as its chief guest, while the current chairperson of the financial institution miss Mira Chaudhary also presided over the program.

The other executive board vice-chairperson of RWDC- Kamala Chaudhary, board member, Madhaba Pokharel, Mina Giri were also present on the occasion while Kalidas Chaudhary was the master of the ceremony.

The very rationale behind the presence of RWDC board members and its chairperson in the review program is because of the reason that Gramin Mahila Utthan Kendra or RWDC which was founded in 1993 as an NGO had started and promoted this Aatmanirbhar LBS as a financial intermediary institution through the launching of Microfinance program which could provide microloans to the rural women who were deprived of income.

Now, since the RWDC promoted Microfinance program has been totally handed over as a separate financial entity from RWDC, the financial institution now stands as a separate financial institution to function independently which has been recognized as one of the “D” class banks in Nepal.

The first day of the half-yearly review program was mainly focused on PowerPoint presentations by all 17 branch managers who highlighted their half-yearly progress including loan disbursement, repayment status, and bad loan situation, challenges, problems and lessons learned, and future planning to mitigate the existing problems and challenges faced by the respective branch offices.

The second-day review program also continued the previous day’s session besides newly recruited trainee field assistants expressing their experiences of what they have learned so far and what their plans are for the future to gear up the tasks and responsibilities of the financial institution.

Similarly, newly recruited “center literacy trainers” also expressed their new experience, learning and suggestions for the improvement in the progress of the office activities related loan disbursement and repayment.

Speaking during the same program on the second day, the chairperson of the financial institution Miss Mira Chaudhary called upon the participants of all branches to meet the challenges and work out plans to ensure repayments of the bad loans in future so that the bad loan status which stands at 4.58% at present can be reduced.

Similarly, Mina Giri, who is also board member of RWDC and promoter of the financial institution, said the branch managers, field staff and all concerned should work hard sincerely to make the institution more progressive in the days to come.

Likewise, well-wisher HB Thapa also hinted that all staff should love their work and office with sincerity and dedication so that they will get the same warm love and response from the office administration.

The second day was concluded with the inspiring remarks of RWDC chairperson and Aatmanirbhar LBS promoter Aasmani Chaudhary who told the participants that the financial institution was started with an investment of Rs 1700 at the beginning which was a very simple and humble beginning. But today the institution has a larger outstanding and a total of 17 branches have been established so far and more branches are likely to be extended if the staff worked with commitment, sincerity and dedication.

She also indicated that all field staff and managers were holders of Phd which means possessing the characteristics of patience, hard work and dedication in the field.

Similarly, the CEO, Shogat Bir Chaudhari said that since no one was free from problems and challenges in this world, it was everyone’s responsibility to be successful in mitigating the existing problems such as repayment of bad loans and increment of members and centers by doing the things in a different manner, using their new and innovative skills. He also said the winners of the world always look forward to the positive side of the things to be winners in any task they take up while the losers always think about their weaker sides, problems, and the darker side of the things. He also reminded the participants of one quotation which said, “Only a dead person is free from problems.”
